Transitional Publishing is a strategic publishing approach that allows authors to build real market traction before deciding whether to pursue a traditional publishing deal. Instead of relying on projections or promises, the author launches the book through a professional independent publishing release designed to generate measurable signals of demand — book sales, audience growth, reader engagement, and media visibility.
In this model, the independent launch serves as both a fully viable publishing outcome and a traction-building phase. Authors retain control of their work, begin building revenue immediately, and develop direct relationships with readers. At the same time, the performance data generated during this early phase creates documented proof that the book resonates with an audience.
This traction provides meaningful leverage if the author later chooses to pursue a traditional publishing opportunity. Publishers respond differently when a book has already demonstrated real demand, an established readership, and a visible market presence.
Importantly, Transitional Publishing is not designed to push authors toward a traditional deal as the only measure of success.
